Definition

Domain rating is Ahrefs’ 0–100 score for a hostname’s link strength in Ahrefs’ index. It is the cousin of Moz DA, not a translation of it. A DR 70 is not a DA 70. Google uses neither.

Use it the way you use DA: a sort key on a media list, dated, with topical fit first.

How it works

Pull DR the day you build the list. Recrawl after the campaign if you must show “authority of linking domains,” and name Ahrefs as the source. Do not average DA and DR.

Worked example

Ahrefs shows DR 46 for a specialist engineering blog that linked your methods page. Moz shows DA 31 for the same host. Both can be true. The link’s value is the page and the crawl, not the average of 38.5.

How it differs

DA is Moz. Referring domains are a count. DR is Ahrefs. Citation in an answer engine is a different graph.

Common errors

Treating DR 70 as a Google pass. Mixing tools mid-year without a note. Buying DR 80 posts.
