This is Malcolm Peralty here from PressTitan and this is The WP Minute, Episode 44
Over on WPTavern they announced something my wife is a little fearful about Gutenberg on WordPress.com. She’s watched and listened to all of the episodes of The WP Minute and doesn’t think she fancies a new writing experience.
Well, right now it looks like it is being rolled out to a subset of users and it is opt-in, but at some point, it will likely be the standard editor for WordPress.com and unless they maintain some classic editor like functionality, I feel like a few people might migrate to self-hosted WordPress.
The good news is that WordPress.com seems to be pretty in tune with its core audience, so I think they’ll be careful with the transition. I mean, I still use the normal WordPress admin panel and not their “improved editor”.
Are you looking for a place to hire a WordPress developer? Over on WPBeginner, they point out six places you might be able to find one. Our recommendation is Codeable, but all of the sites they list are good resources. Just make sure you do your due diligence before hiring anyone.
Lastly, just to stir things up a bit, I want to point out a post on MediaCurrent entitled Drupal vs WordPress – A Lego Analogy. The author pretty much says that WordPress isn’t good for dynamic applications with many features and that it really is just for brochureware websites. I’ll let you all tell Rob McBryde what you think of that.
That’s it for today’s WP Minute, thank you all for watching.
