Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a safe and happy time.

Over on WPTavern, they talk about WordPress.com’s new marketing campaign called “Do Anything”. It will be a national campaign for the hosted blogging service. I have a feeling it will create some more confusion about WordPress.com and WordPress.org if people start searching for how to customize their new WordPress site as the campaign seems to be aimed at non-technical people.

WPKube has a post comparing the new block-based editor to the classic editor and they find that the new editor isn’t better than the Classic one. They compare performance, usability, and finished HTML code to make their decision.

Have you ever heard of VVV? Varying Vagrant Vagrants is a powerful WordPress development tool that TorqueMag covers in their recent post. I have never used it myself but I worked with 10up, a company that helped develop it.

And in other news, ClassicPress has released their roadmap for version one and two. I love their focus on business needs and core performance. They also talk about separating features from the core into core plugins like XML-RPC, Gravatars and more. This is a stance that the WordPress project has never taken for fear that the core plugins won’t get the attention they need.
